1 〔何か〕 anything; something.

●何ぞというと on every occasion; at the slightest provocation.

●何ぞご用ですかな. Do you want anything of me? | What can I do for you?

・こんな日は鍋か何ぞで一杯やりたいですな. On a day like this, a drink and some stew or something to go with it sure would be nice.

2 〔どうして(反語); 何とまあ(感嘆)〕 why; how; what.

●何ぞ彼を恐れん. Why should I fear him?
